We Got-R-Done!

The Whitney barn has a new home at the
Pawnee City Historical Society Museum!
(Photographs by Sandi Corbitt-Sears)

On March 13th, The Ensor Moving Company helped us Git-R-Done by moving the Whitney family barn to the Pawnee City Historical Museum site. In his youth, Dan Whitney (aka Larry the Cable Guy) helped do chores in the barn.

Emmet Gyhra, Jr., on whose property the barn was located, donated it to the museum. Roy Mullin, president of the Pawnee City Historical Society, and his nephew Brian Rapp did much of the prep work that made the barn relocation possible...including moving 28 loads of dirt to the site.

Moving the barn required the raising of power lines, the cutting of a few tree branches, and a couple of improbable-looking maneuvers. But it was clear that the project was well within the Ensor's expertise.

As you can see from the pictures, the Whitney barn needs restoration. Donations of money, labor, and/or materials will be welcomed. If you would like to help, please call the museum at (402) 852-3131 or use the "Email Webmaster" link in the left column to get in touch.
